Does Stem Cell Therapy Work on Hair Loss?

Does Stem Cell Therapy Work on Hair Loss?

Loss of hair is a widespread problem that affects millions of individuals globally. There are numerous therapies available for hair loss, but not all of them may be beneficial for every individual.

Stem cell therapy for hair has gained prominence in recent years as a promising treatment option. Nonetheless, the question of whether hair stem cell therapy is effective persists. This article will investigate the efficacy of stem cell therapy for hair.

What is Stem Cell Treatment for Hair?

Stem cell therapy for hair is a regenerative treatment that stimulates hair growth through the use of stem cells. Stem cells are capable of differentiating into specialised cell types and have the ability to restore damaged tissue. In hair stem cell therapy, stem cells are injected into the scalp to stimulate hair growth and improve existing hair's condition.

How Does Stem Cell Therapy for Hair Work?

By activating hair follicles and increasing blood flow to the scalp, hair stem cell treatment is effective for treating hair loss. Injected stem cells can differentiate into several cell types, such as hair follicle cells and skin cells, and stimulate the formation of new hair. By strengthening the hair follicles, the therapy can also enhance the quality of existing hair.

Is Hair Stem Cell Treatment Effective?

The efficacy of hair stem cell therapy is contingent on a number of variables, including the severity of hair loss, the type of stem cells employed, and the injection procedure. Although research on the efficiency of hair stem cell therapy is limited, certain trials have showed encouraging outcomes.

According to a 2017 study published in the Journal of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, hair stem cell therapy can improve hair density, thickness, and growth rate. Twenty individuals with androgenetic alopecia, a common type of hair loss, got hair stem cell treatment in the trial. 70% of the patients demonstrated a significant increase in hair density, while 80% of the patients reported an increase in hair growth rate.

A 2018 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology demonstrated that hair stem cell therapy can enhance hair thickness, strength, and quality. Thirty individuals with androgenetic alopecia who received hair stem cell treatment participated in the trial. 90% of patients shown an improvement in hair thickness, 80% in hair strength, and 70% in hair quality, according to the findings of the researchers.

Several recent studies on the usefulness of hair stem cell therapy for hair loss have been conducted, and while the results are promising, further research is required to completely understand its efficacy.

One study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology in 2021 looked into the potential of human hair follicle-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hHF-MSCs) for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA),a prevalent type of hair loss. The study included 25 individuals who had several hHF-MSC injections into their scalp.

The treatment enhanced hair density, thickness, and growth rate, according to the researchers, with 84% of patients exhibiting an improvement in hair density and 68% indicating an improvement in hair thickness.

Another study, published in the International Journal of Trichology in 2020, looked examined the efficacy of hair stem cell therapy for male pattern baldness (MPB). The study included ten individuals who got both hair stem cell treatment and microneedling. The treatment increased hair density, thickness, and growth rate, according to the researchers, with all ten patients demonstrating an improvement in hair density and thickness.

In 2020, a review paper in the journal Stem Cells International examined the prospect of stem cell treatment for hair loss. The report cited numerous promising research, including one published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2018 that discovered hair stem cell therapy can improve hair thickness, strength, and quality.

Overall, the findings of these trials indicate that hair stem cell therapy may be a promising therapeutic option for hair loss, but further study is required to completely understand its efficacy and safety. It is critical to get the advice of a skilled practitioner to establish whether hair stem cell therapy is the best treatment choice for you.
